Important ESD and Ceramic Qualification

“Ceramic,” “anti-static” and “ESD” are not interchangeable descriptions. Not every stainless-steel or ceramic-tip model is automatically suitable for an electrostatic-discharge-controlled environment.

For an ESD-related requirement, provide:

  • Applicable standard or internal purchasing specification
  • Required resistance range
  • Test method, voltage and acceptance criteria
  • Component sensitivity and working environment
  • Required inspection or test documentation

Are these products medical devices?

Not by default. Any medical, diagnostic, sterile or regulated use requires a separately confirmed product specification, documentation and market assessment.
