The TWEEZER WORLD® Cross-Lock Fly-Tying Tweezers feature a reverse-action mechanism that automatically holds selected materials when the handle is released. Press the handle to open the jaws, position the material and release the pressure to close them.
This self-closing action allows the fly tier to retain feathers, fibers, hooks, beads or other small components without continuously squeezing the tool. The tweezers can therefore provide temporary hands-free holding while the user adjusts thread, prepares another material or organizes the fly-tying bench.
Manufactured from stainless steel, this compact fly-tying tool is suitable for hobby fly tiers, professional fly dressers, fishing shops, training academies and private-label fishing brands.
Cross-lock tweezers are constructed so that their two arms cross before reaching the jaws. This creates an operating action that is the reverse of conventional tweezers.
To use them:
This operation is why cross-lock tweezers are also described as self-closing, reverse-action or cross-action tweezers.
The design can be convenient when holding a material for an extended period. However, the actual holding pressure depends on jaw geometry, spring tension, tip alignment and the inner contact surface. Delicate materials should be tested to ensure that the pressure is appropriate.
A fly-tying pattern may require the controlled placement of several natural and synthetic materials around a small hook. Cross-lock tweezers can help retain these materials while the fly tier continues working.
Common applications may include:
These tweezers are designed primarily for gripping and temporary retention. They do not replace scissors, a bodkin, dubbing spinner, bobbin, hackle pliers, whip finisher or fly-tying vise.

The exact length, weight, steel grade, jaw shape, jaw width, spring tension and inner gripping surface should be measured or confirmed from the approved production sample.
The cross-action tweezers can be evaluated for handling:
Suitability varies according to the item’s size, shape and fragility. Buyers developing a private-label version should test samples with the materials commonly used by their target customers.
Cross-lock tweezers can be useful when the fly tier needs to hold one component while working with another. Once the jaws are closed around the selected material, the tool maintains pressure until the handle is pressed again.
This makes the product suitable for:
The tweezers can be sold as an individual tool or paired with scissors, a bodkin, bobbin, whip-finishing tool and other fly-tying accessories.

Bulk production should begin only after the product specifications, sample, logo artwork and packaging details have been approved. Production time depends on quantity, finish and customization. Stock samples may be prepared faster than fully customized samples.
Available packaging may include:
Private-label packaging can display the customer’s logo, brand colors, barcode, product description, care instructions and country-of-origin information.
Remove loose fibers, dubbing and adhesive residue from the jaws after use. Wipe the tool with a clean cloth and dry it completely before storage.
Store the tweezers in a protective pouch, case or organized fly-tying station. Do not force the jaws around components that are too large because excessive pressure may affect the cross-lock alignment or spring tension.
Clean coated models only with a method compatible with the selected surface finish.

They are reverse-action tweezers whose jaws close when the handle is released. Pressing the handle opens the jaws.
In this product category, the terms are generally used for the same reverse-action mechanism. “Cross-lock” describes the crossed-arm construction, while “self-closing” describes how it operates.
Depending on the jaw design and tension, they may hold hooks, beads, feathers, dubbing, flash and other small fly-tying components.
Selected spring-tension adjustments may be possible for qualifying OEM orders. The requested tension should be approved through a physical sample.
