Semiconductor Wafer Handling Tweezers – Four-Tab Paddle Tip

TWEEZER WORLD® Four-Tab Semiconductor Wafer Handling Tweezers combine four separated upper contact tabs with a broad solid lower support paddle. This asymmetric geometry is intended for controlled manual support, positioning and transfer of approved wafers, substrates and delicate technical components.

The lower paddle provides a continuous supporting surface, while the four upper tabs create separated closing-contact locations across the opposing jaw. Compared with conventional pointed tweezers, this arrangement can distribute contact across a wider defined area. The exact model must be approved according to wafer diameter, substrate thickness, permitted contact zones, closing force and process conditions.

Suitable for evaluation by semiconductor laboratories, microelectronics manufacturers, research facilities, inspection teams, universities and precision-tool distributors.

Four Upper Contact Tabs With a Solid Support Paddle

The product image shows four distinct upper tabs arranged across one jaw and a wide, uninterrupted lower paddle on the opposing jaw. Both working ends use a stepped transition from the narrow handle arms to the broader contact area. The straight spring body includes a ridged finger grip for controlled manual compression.

This product is different from the earlier dual-tab and triple-tab designs. The fourth upper contact increases the number of defined closing locations, while the solid lower paddle provides continuous support beneath the approved contact zone. Whether this improves stability for a particular component must be established during sample testing.

How the Four-Tab Paddle Design Works

  1. Position the lower paddle: place it beneath the approved wafer edge, backside or other permitted support area.
  2. Align the upper tabs: confirm that all four contacts correspond with defined and permitted locations.
  3. Close gradually: compress the handle until the tabs contact evenly.
  4. Stabilize the component: maintain only the minimum force required to prevent unintended movement.
  5. Transfer and release: position the part in its approved tray, carrier or fixture and release it smoothly.

Remove the tool from service if one tab contacts before the others, the paddle is distorted, the component is marked or the closing force is outside the approved range.

Dual-Tab, Triple-Tab and Four-Tab Comparison

Model Upper contacts Selection consideration
Dual-tab paddle Two separated tabs Fewer defined upper contact locations
Triple-tab paddle Three separated tabs Intermediate contact distribution
Four-tab paddle Four separated tabs Wider multi-point upper contact pattern

More contact tabs do not automatically mean better performance. Select the model according to the component geometry, permitted contact zone, required stability and qualification results.

Selection and Sample Approval

Define the component

Record the material, diameter, thickness, edge profile, surface condition and fragility. State whether it is a full wafer, coupon, die, glass plate, ceramic substrate or another technical component.

Define permitted contact areas

Mark the approved lower-paddle support region and the permitted location for each of the four upper tabs. Avoid active, coated or patterned surfaces unless the controlled process permits contact.

Specify measurable geometry

Record paddle width, depth, thickness, flatness and edge profile. Define each upper tab’s width, depth, thickness, spacing, parallelism and allowable offset.

Control closing force

Measure the force at a defined opening and handle location. Excessive force may increase edge stress, while insufficient force may allow movement or rotation.

Qualify the operating environment

Confirm ESD controls, cleaning agents, temperature, glove use, cleanroom procedure and packaging. Approve technical claims only when evidence applies to the exact finished model.

Quality-Control Inspection

  • Lower-paddle dimensions, flatness and edge condition
  • Dimensions and spacing of all four upper tabs
  • Vertical and lateral alignment of the working surfaces
  • First-contact position and complete closing pattern
  • Burrs, sharp edges, scratches and surface defects
  • Closing force at a defined opening and grip position
  • Return action after repeated compression
  • Overall length, weight, logo, SKU and packaging
  • Comparison with the approved reference sample

Technical Claim Controls

The image confirms visible geometry but does not prove alloy grade or technical performance. Do not describe this product as ESD-safe, anti-magnetic, chemical-resistant, anti-acid, cleanroom-compatible or non-marring without evidence for the exact model.

  • ESD performance: requires an appropriate test method and result for the complete finished tool.
  • Magnetic behavior: requires verified alloy information or a measured result.
  • Chemical resistance: depends on the chemical, concentration, temperature and exposure time.
  • Cleanroom suitability: depends on material, construction, cleaning, packaging and particle requirements.
  • Non-marring performance: requires testing on representative surfaces using the intended contact pattern and force.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many upper contact tabs does this model have?

It has four separated upper contact tabs positioned above a broad solid lower support paddle.

Is the lower paddle slotted?

No. The attached product image shows a solid lower paddle without elongated openings.

How is it different from the triple-tab model?

This model has four upper contact tabs instead of three, creating an additional defined closing location. Suitability must still be validated for the intended component.

Which wafer size can it handle?

Do not publish a compatible diameter until the finished sample has been measured and evaluated for paddle dimensions, tab pattern, clearance and closing force.

Is this model ESD-safe or cleanroom-compatible?

Not automatically. Both claims require model-specific materials, test evidence and customer qualification.

Can the four-tab geometry be customized?

Yes, subject to manufacturing review. Provide a drawing defining paddle and tab dimensions, spacing, tolerances, contact pattern and closing-force requirements.

Can I order it with private-label branding?

Yes. Options may include laser branding, custom SKU identification, barcodes, technical cards and private-label packaging.
