How to Validate a 45° Smooth Tip Collection Against Real SKUs
A collection called “45° Smooth Tip Lash Tweezers” should not be populated only from titles, colors or broad lash-tweezer tags. Each included SKU needs evidence for two separate attributes: an approximately 45-degree working profile and a smooth inner contact surface. If either point is unknown, the product should remain outside the filtered collection until verified.
Write the inclusion rule before reviewing products
The collection rule should state that the physical model—not merely its product name—must have a 45° working bend and smooth inner contact faces. “Angled,” “volume,” “gold,” or “powder coated” is insufficient. A fiber-tip product should not enter a smooth-tip collection, and a smooth product with a 90° or boot profile should also be excluded.
Build a SKU validation table
Create one row for every candidate product and capture:
- Shopify product title and handle;
- SKU or permanent internal model code;
- published tip angle or measured profile;
- inner-tip surface: smooth, textured or unverified;
- contact-zone length and closure notes when available;
- product-photo evidence;
- sample-inspection status and date;
- collection decision: include, exclude or hold.
Inspect the physical sample, not only photographs
Photos can confirm the general bend and visible surface, but lighting can hide fine texture, residue or uneven contact. Use magnification to inspect both inner faces. Close the sample gradually and observe where contact starts, whether the tips meet evenly and whether the contact zone matches the description. Record the exact SKU that was inspected.
Separate the handle finish from the working surface
A smooth matte, polished or coated handle does not prove a smooth inner tip. The product record should describe the handle finish and inner working faces separately. If the supplier cannot confirm the inner surface for a specific SKU, mark it pending verification rather than borrowing the description from a similar-looking model.
Check automated collection logic
Automated rules can be useful after the product data is clean. Use a controlled tag or metafield only after SKU validation. Avoid rules based on a title containing “45” and “smooth,” because titles can be incomplete, copied or later edited. Review the collection whenever a new product is added or an existing model is replaced.
Publish the evidence buyers actually need
Each product page should show the angle, profile, tip surface, overall length, finish, model code and technique categories that have been confirmed. Do not convert appearance into unsupported claims about grip, coating durability, material grade or universal fan size. Invite the buyer to approve a coded sample for the intended technique.
